Association of Retired Senior IPS Officers (ARSIPSO)

This is with reference to my letter No. ARSIPSO/GS-BSD-4/2023 dated. 10/08/2023 on the 4th B.S. Das Memorial Lecture, which had to be rescheduled for unavoidable reasons.

The 4th B.S.Das Memorial Lecture to be delivered by Shri Anil Kumar Sinha, IAS (Retd.), on the subject Disaster Management: Creating Safer Communities, has now been rescheduled for October 14, 2023 as per the following:

ACTIVITIES

 
 

Activities of ARSIPSO are primarily guided by the Objectives laid down in its Constitution. Being at a nascent stage, the Association's activities mainly fulfill the following objectives:

 
  • Promote social interaction and promote esprit de corps among retired and serving IPS officers and their families
     
  • provide a forum for facilitating exchange of ideas and information among members and serving or retired professionals and scholars/experts etc. on matters of common interest in the field of law, justice, human development, administration, public order and all aspects of national security
       
     
  • inter-act with other organizations/groups in furtherance of exchange of expertise in specialized areas of national concern

    Social Events
    The Association organises social get-togethers of its members and their spouses where all Heads of Central Police Organisations are also invited. These functions have proved very popular among members and their families and there has always been a demand for more such occasions. Apart from providing opportunity to the members and their spouses to meet old friends and make new ones, these functions also provide an avenue for members' interaction with senior serving IPS officers who are special invitees to these functions. It has helped in creating a sense of togetherness in the Service

    Professional Interactions
    The Association regularly organises Talks and Panel Discussions on a variety of topics of professional interest to the members. Eminent personalities in diverse fields which include, inter-alia, National Security, Global Terrorism, Internal Security, Criminal Justice System, Political and Economic issues are invited to address and interact with the members. The speaker-audience interactions which follow have proved immensely interesting and useful. The wide spectrum of topics covered and depth of knowledge shared at these sessions will be evident from the galaxy of the speakers who addressed the members:

      11. H.E. Dago Tsering (Bhutan Ambassador to India)
      12. Dr. K. Subrahmaniam (Former Director Institute of Defence Studies and Analysis, Former Adviser, National Security Council)
       
      13. Late J.N. Dixit (National Security Adviser, former Foreign Secretary)

    The Association has an ongoing web site www.arsipso.com for over a year now. Recently it has been restructured for the benefit of the members and other readers. The website contains contributions by way of articles of topical interest apart from other information about the Association.

    Institutional Collaborations
    By way of establishing lateral relationship with like minded organizations and institutions of professional interest to the members, a beginning was made by planning a series of seminars on different aspects of National Security in collaboration with India International Center (IIC) New Delhi. Two Sessions have already been held and third and final is being scheduled for August 1, 2005 open to all ARSIPSO-IIC members.

    Efforts are afoot to establish linkages with the State Associations of Retired IPS Officers

    Members are encouraged to make suggestions to the Executive Committee for planning the activities of the Association. Their suggestions are given due consideration within the existing financial and staff constraints
